General distribution: Europe, Caucasus, Siberia, East Africa. Lilioceris schneiden (Weise, 1900) HUNGARY — Pest county: Pilis, Pap-rét, 22.V. 1960, PA. Distribution in the Carpathian Basin: Unknown. General distribution: Italy, Mid Europe. Remarks: In their revision BERTI and RAPILLY mentioned the occurrence of L. schneiden (Weise) from Hungary without any precise locality ["Hongrie - 1 ex. (Coll. Reiche); 1 ex. (Coll. Pic)"] (BERTI and RAPILLY 1976). On the other hand I had no possibility to investigate those voucher specimens. The recent study of the genitalia of small part of the Hungarian L. merdigera (Linnaeus) material provided me the first evidence for the occurrence of L, schneiden (Weise) in Hungary. L. merdigera (Linnaeus) and L. schneiden (Weise) are extremely similar in general ap­pearance (see LEONARDI and SASSI 1997) and thus the only reliable character is the structure of male and female genitalia (Fig. 2). For this reason, the whole Hungarian L merdigera (Linnaeus) material needs further revision. New to the fauna of Hungary. 21
