Az Alpokalja természeti képe közlemények 3. (Praenorica - Folia historico-naturalia. Szombathely, 1996)

VÍG К.: A Nyugat-magyarországi-peremvidék levélbogár faunájának alapvetése (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae sensu lato) the vicinity of the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. The annual precipitation and clouding are significant. Because of it, the climate of the area is cooler and moister that that of other parts of the basin. These features, of course, have an influence on the natural vegetation cover as well. The transitional feature of the region manifests in the phytogeographical relationships as well, since between the Pannonicum and the Noricum lays the Praenoricum floristic province. It is characterized by Central European, Atlantic-Mediterranean and sub-Mediterranean floral elements and supplemented by dealpin, borealis and sub-Atlantic elements. Xerotherm vegetation types are relatively rare. The research of the beetle fauna of the Western Hungarian border region has a history of more than hundred years (FREH, 1878; KUTHY, 1900; VANGEL, 1906; KASZAB, 1937; CSÍKI, 1941b). This research, however, was confined to small area, to the Kőszegi Mountains and certain parts of Győr-Moson-Sopron county. As a result of the collecting of mostly amateur coleopterologists, joined to the „Natural History of Preanoricum" research project in 1976, the Department of Natural History of the Savaria Museum (Szombathely) has an insect collection of more than hundred thousand beetle specimens from the region. The collection contains more than eight thousand leaf beetle specimens. It is supplemented by the material collected in the Kőszegi Mountains in 1936-37. This material is being preserved in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Besides these ones, additional leaf beetle specimens can be found in the collection of the Department of Forest Protection of the University of Forestry and Wood Sciences (Sopron). The present study has been elaborated on the basis of the collections of the following institutes: Department of Natural History of Savaria Museum (Szombathely), Department of Forest Protection of the University of Forestry and Wood Sciences (Sopron), Hungarian Natural History Museum (Budapest). Additional leaf beetle material can be found in the private collection of Mr. István ROZNER (Budapest). The collection of the Savaria Museum contains those specimens that were collected in the Kőszegi Mountains in 1936-37, and were previously preserved in the Museum of Kőszeg. Although earlier short studies were also dealt with the leaf beetle fauna of the area (see above and CSIKI, 1941a; ROZNER, 1987), still this study can be considered as a work of fundamental importance on the leaf beetle fauna of the region. All distribution data found in the literature, regarding the region, are incorporated, many times identified with the specific item and supplemented by data of present collections (location, time, collector, item number). Presentation of data: after the name of the species, relevant bibliographical entries are mentioned (author, year of description, page). Bibliographical references are followed by a number in brackets. The next paragraph contains data of occurrence as found in the literature; the number in brackets refers to the same bibliographical references as above. This is followed by data of present collections. The collecting data have been grouped on the basis of the location: firstly data of leaf 170
