Alexandr V. Simonenko: On the tribal structure of some migration waves of Sarmatians to the Carpathian Basin
Dnieper and Danube. The population who left these cemeteries preserved ethnographic traditions of their predecessors: the custom of decorating the lower part of the costume with beads, wearing fibulas etc. Generally, these sites indicate the presence of successors of an earlier population with some new features (primary graves, ditches surrounding the grave). If we accept the identification of that population with the Roxolani, as suggested above, the sites of the second half of the 2 nd - first half of the 3 rd c. in the territory between the Dniester and Danube have to be attributed to them (at least the ones mentioned above). Thus I assume that relics of this type appeared in the Alföld after the Marcomannic Wars together with the participants in them: the Roxolani.
