A Roman Period (2nd—3rd century AD) settlement from the Barcau river Margine, “Valea Täniei-Tarina” (Bihor County, Romania) Sorin Bulzan In 2004-2007 archaeological research on the future “Transilvania”, Bra§ov-Oradea highway, revealed a Roman Period settlement at the site of Valea Täniei on a high terrace of the rill Täniei, tributary of the Barcäu river (Fig. I).1 After a short period of research, we have concluded that the settlement extended to the both banks of the Täniei’s intermittent water course (rill), but the larger part of the habitation on the left bank was investigated by another archaeological team. This study summarises just preliminary data, and the final presentation of the settlement will be offered as soon as possible. The settlement area and the neighbouring zone According to the survey data, the settlement was situated on a much larger surface than the one researched by the archaeological excavations. From Fig. 1 Margine, “Valea Täniei” 1. kép Margine, “Valea Täniei” 1 The survey was made in the winter of 2004 by Sorin Bulzan and loan Cri§an, archaeologists of’’Tärii Cri§urilor” Museum of Oradea. Two short reports were published: Dumitrascu et al. 2005., Dumitrascu-Bulzan 2007. and a preliminary study of the settlement: Bulzan 2010. NyJAME LV. 2013. 451^165. 451
