Az első benzintöltő állomás Nyíregyházán The first petrol station in Nyíregyháza Perhaps only few people know where the first public petrol station of Nyíregyháza was set up. The present study shows how the use of petrol stations started, an absolutely trivial service in our days. On the basis of the studied official correspondence we had the opportunity to have a look at the backstage of the town administration: how this first petrol station was set up in the heart of the town. Examination of the contemporary articles and letters let us understand how the public of Nyíregyháza received this very modern and progressive innovation. Development of Nyíregyháza is well represented by the fact that - well before Debrecen and Székesfehérvár - it was one of the first towns to give a licence in 1924 for the construction of a public petrol station.
