Régészet - Almássy Katalin: A Mátraszőlős-királydombi kelta temető I. A sírok leírása

A I mássy Katalin From chronological point of view the most important elements include band shaped shield bosses with trapezoid wings, plain weapon belts with punched decoration, swords with V shaped scabbard chape, brooches with 8-shaped spiral decoration on the foot, glass bracelets and the three- and four-part anklets. Judging from these artefacts, the cemetery was started at the beginning of period LTC 1 and, probably, was still in use in the early LTC2 period, that is to say, for about hundred years between 250-150. In the female costume of this time bronze belt chains, mostly with enamel insets, played an important role. These objects are missing from the finds of Mátraszőlős. Sapropelite rings had not been found either, and the number of glass bracelets is relatively low. These can be perhaps explained by the geographical situation. On the basis of the distribution of the Late Iron Age sites, Celts must have used basically valleys of rivers and springs as natural routes ( ALMÁSSY 2010. 198199). Mátraszőlős is situated at the northern part of the Zagyva Valley, so it is possible that after its arrival the local community became somewhat isolated.
