Régészet - Hágó Attila Nándor: Késő neolit település Meggyesgombás (Dumbrava) – „La Cosma" (Szatmár megye) lelőhelyen

Hágó Attila Nándor Late Neolithic settlement at the Meggyesgombás (Dumbrava) — "La Cosma" (Szatmár county) site Dumbrava (Felsőliget) can be found between Livada and Agri§, northeast of Satu Mare in Szatmár county. The territory became a known archaeological site in the 1970's and 1980's when local school children and inhabitants collected shards and a significant number of stone tools (axes, chisels, querns and polishers), obsidian and flint blades. The archaeological investigation of the site started in 1984: Nefa Ierco§an archaeologist of the museum of Carei conducted field walking in 1984 and 1986. He collected finds from the Neolithic, the Copper Age (Tiszapolgár culture), the Bronze Age and the La Téne (Celtic) period. The objects were placed in the collection of the City Museum of Carei. The following years, two planned excavations were conducted with the primary purpose of determining the extent and the stratigraphy of the Neolithic site. The archaeologists of the Museum of Satu Mare County opened five cuttings during the archaeological investigations (1987, 1989). Several archaeological features (pits and houses) and finds from the Late Neolithic, the Bronze Age and the La Téne period (Celtic) were unearthed. Beside a significant amount of shards, many stone tools were also found (querns, axes, chisels and polishers). Based on the ceramic finds, the Dumbrava-La Cosma site can be dated from the early phase of the Late Neolithic.
