András Halászi teacher and writer who celebrated the 40th anniversary of his literary activity personally honoured the museum by donating his manuscripts to the collection. His name is well known to those who love literature, who are interested in linguistics and who are at home in pedagogy. Although he spent most of his life in the neighbouring county, thousands of threads bind him to Szatmár county. He was born in Szabolcs village on April 26, 1940. He attended primary school in his native village. He passed the maturity exams in Tokaj in 1958. On his sister’s invitation, he moved into the young town of Tiszaszederkény, to date Tiszaújváros. He worked in the power plant as technician trainee. But science attracted him more and so he registered at the higher-grade teacher training institute in Sárospatak in 1959 where he finished his studies in 1962. He worked in Mezőcsát from the summer of 1962 to the summer of 1969. In the meantime, he earned a degree in the fields of Hungarian and pedagogy in the Kossuth Lajos University of Sciences in Debrecen. In 1969 he settled in Leninváros (Tiszaújváros), where he became the deputy director of Primary School no. 3. He worked here until 1974, until 1988 he was full-time boarding-school teacher, and then the Kun Béla (to date Eötvös József) Secondary School and Industrial Vocational Secondary School employed him in full time. He taught and educated pupils in this school until his retirement. Besides, he lectured on the history of pedagogy and linguistics in the private university of Miskolc for nearly 10 years. 358
