Régészet - Horváth Ciprián: Adatok a honfoglalás kori tausírozott kengyelek kérdésköréhez (A levélmintákkal díszített kengyelek)
Horváth Ciprián Some data on the problems of the damascened stirrups from the Age of Hungarian Conquest (Stirrups decorated with leaf pattern) This study represents a group of damascened stirrups from the time of Hungarian Conquest, namely, the pieces decorated with rhythmically placed leaf patterns. Stirrups from 18 sites can be included into the group. Apart from one exception, all of them belong to the so-called fan-shaped type. Beside the similarity of decoration, the analogous technical design is important. Only less than half of the stirrups were found in the course of more or less professional excavation, so in many cases the accompanying finds are known only fragmentarily. However, the stirrups of better quality could have belonged to rich persons, - judging from the data on our disposal - to men. It is difficult to give a more sophisticated date than the 10th century. Only in the case of the simpler pieces, their majority can be put more reliably to the second half - end of the century. Apart from some exceptions, stirrups with known provenance were found in the Upper Tisza Region or between rivers Tisza-Körös-Berettyó. Probably they were produced at this territory, but there is no evidence for attributing them to the same workshop or master.
