The end of the tell culture is marked by the Koszider phase closing the Otomani (and other) cultures, and together with it, the end of the Middle Bronze Age. Koszider phase is relatively well recorded by waste-pits of Carei-Bobáld I tell, (disturbed) upper level, excavated between 2000-2002. Shapes of pottery and decoration motives make us suggest that the people of the tells left the earlier settlement, but continued to exist and frequently formed large settlements near the tells. Usually these are single-layer settlements that were acknowledged in the special literature under the name of Hajdúbagos Culture, or Pi$colt-Hajdúbagos- Cehälut or Cehálut-Hajdúbagos. The territory of this group includes the surroundings of Carei and in the region of Ermellék (between rivers Barcäu/Berettyo and Ier/Er), the Tárnád Hills. The territory of the group continues along the Crasna in the §imleu Silvaniei Basin, the valley of Barcäu/Berettyo. In NE-Hungary this is a characteristic phenomenon in the region of Nyírség. Similar cultural phenomena are marked as Biharea Culture in the surroundings of Oradea and along the Cri§ Repede. The attribution of the latter culture is one of the aims of the present study. As to the chronological situation of the Hajdubagos-Pi^colt-Cehälut Group or rather Culture, it includes the Late Bronze Age I, following the Koszider phase and can be dated to late BC — first half of BD by Reinecke.
