Régészet - Kelemen Imola: Az M3-as autópálya 161. lelőhely (Nyíregyháza-Felsősima) állatcsontjainak elemzése

Az M3-as autópálya lói. lelőhely (Nyíregyháza-Felsősima) állatcsontjainak elemzése later than the human grave. So, the horse was placed beside its master only after the burial of the man. From the edge of grave 244 from the Árpád Age, two horse teeth were found. According to the excavator they could get there from the neighbouring ditch 245, surrounding a grave dated to the Roman Age. Examination of the animal bones from this ditch seems to support this, because a horse skull was found here also with several missing teeth. Two teeth coming from grave 244 are the fore-molar and molar teeth (P2, Ml) of the horse’s maxilla. However, we are not able to evaluate the age of the animal from these data. From male grave 382 dated to the Árpád Age, a horse skull lying on its left side, directed towards east was found beside the exterior part of the right leg of the dead. On the basis of very fragmentary pieces, these remains belonged to a subadultus horse. This kind of placing horse remains is unusual, differing from the customs of the majority of burials examined by 1. Vörös. The rare elements are that e.g. the horse skull was not accompanied by feet and was directed to the east, turning opposite the orientation of the dead.
