Régészet - János Makkay: The Miracle Stag in Ancient Greek mythical stories and their Indo-Iranian counterparts
Makkay János and fur, with an applied deer antler, partly covered with the representation of a tiger, made of fur (Figs. 6-9)(RUDENKO 1953. 214., 219., PI. 71: I.). 19 Further similar masks were also found in kurgan graves 2 and 5. One complete piece was excavated in kurgan grave 5: an antlered stag's head of leather was put to the frontal part of a mask, made of thin leather (Figs. 10-1 1)(RUDENKO 1953.224225. PI. 72: 3-4.), while another, found in kurgan grave 2, represents an essentially similar construction: the frontal part of the horse mask is topped by a sheep's figure, having a cock's statuette on its head (Fig. 12a-b) (RUDENKO 1953. Fig. 137., PI. 72: 5., with the description of it on p. 396.). '" The reconstruction of LÁSZLÓ (1967. Fig. on p. 38.) was probably based on pieces published by RUDENKO 1953. PI. 71, 1-2. PI. 72: 3-5.. or on a different reconstruction of Rudenko, not available for me. 18 Hg. 5 5. kép Fig. 6-9 6-9. kép
