Természettudomány - András Legány: Ornithological control examination of the fauna changes of the Tiszavasvári Fehér-szik (saline)
Madártani kontrollvizsgálat a tiszavasvári Fehér-sziken... Ornithological control examination of the fauna changes of the Tiszavasvári Fehér-szik (saline) Using a comparative examination the author analyzed the birds of the Tiszavasvári, Fehér-szik (saline) Region of Environmental Protection, the changes in the aviafauna of the place and its reasons. As a result of the study the author assumed the following: 1. The number of nidatory species in 1996 was 96, in 1997 it was 20, which means a 22-32% decrease. (See table 1.) Beside it, qualitative changes also took place. The latter can be charactarized by the disappearance and decrease of saline species who need water, and that of the dominance of the saline species. 2. The reason for these changes is undoubtedly the lack of water, the impact of which acts directly - and partly indirectly through the vegetation. It explains the drastic decrease of species and couples breeding on the reed-level and that of the dominance of the ones nesting on the ground. 3. These changes cannot be considered only negative from natural protectional point of view, because all that happened was the transformation of the territory from one natural condition into another one. It is proved by the fact that the number of protected and endangered couples and species has increased. (See table 2.) The calculated dominance values do not refer to the collapse of the aviafauna either and not even to its significant change. 4. It can be considered as an unfavourable process that in the course of the vegetation changes a strong weediness was experienced. This weediness could be stopped immediately as a result of a watery period. Tasks following from the examination: 1. The supply of an adequate water level at least in the period of reproduction. 2. Mowing of the dry and weedy territories each year in the middle of the summer. 3. A strongly controlled prohibition of transport on the territory. 4. Prohibition of water-game hunting.
