Gallina Zsolt: előzetes jelentés a Kaposvárt elkerülő 61-es számú főút 2. és 3. lelőhelyének régészeti feltárásáról
258 GALLINA ZSOLT 5. rajz (készítette Szabó Sándor) Preliminary report of the archaeological excavations of sites number 2 and 3, found on the encircling section of Road 61 around Kaposvár ZSOLT GALLINA We excavated the sites No. 2 and 3, during the archaeological work preliminary to the construction of the road No. 61 around Kaposvár. On the 2. site, on a territory of a 10 000 m 2 140 objects were found, out of which 23-25 objects belong to the Lengyeli Culture, 3 large material mining pits and a circular ditch of a 100110 m in diameter date from the Balaton-Lasinja Culture. This latter object presumably was part of a fortification. We excavated a few pits from the PécelBaden Culture and from the Early Bronze Age period as well. 21-25 objects (pits, house remains, and furnaces) represented the Lime Incrusted Pottery Culture. On the western end of the territory 4 deepened Celtic houses were documented, whereas on the eastern part, situated in the valley, 2 Late Árpádian Age ovens were found. On the 3. site 600 objects were unearthed on a territory of a 7500 m 2 . The site contained 2-3 timber houses (Langhaus) belonging to the Transdanubian Linear Culture. On the northern part a few Early Bronze Age pits were found. Larger part of the site (nearly 600 objects) can be dated to the Roman period (houses, furnaces, fire places, material winning pits, post holes, pits, ditches). We unearthed 4 entirely subterraneous pit houses and a number of U shaped, special ovens. The Roman Age settlement dates from the 2-3 centuries, and consists of at least 2 different periods. On the northern part of the site a ploughed, Roman, 4. century, small bronze coin find was unearthed.
