Tanulmányok - Andrássy Antal: Somogy megye 1848 őszén, a Jellasics-támadás idején.

SOMOGY MEGYE 1848 ŐSZÉN 147 SOMOGY COUNTY IN THE FALL OF 1848 AT THE TIME OF THE JELLASICS ATTACK í The study has attempted to present an overall picture of the critical days of the Hungarian bourgeois revolution and the freedom fight. The first two chapters explain how County Defence was organised, why it proved unsuccessful and sumarizes economic-social class contrandictions prior to the emperor's counter-revolution. It presents summarized facts and figures of problems on organizing the national guard in Somogy County. From the third chapter onwards, the study is a chronicle of attacks made and steps taken by the emperor's army, of the incompetence of County Defence and of complete collapse. On the basis of written reports left behind by commanders and townchips that took part in the guerilla fighting the closing chapter summarizes facts and figures on how popular guerilla warefare unfolded in Somogy County. Finally, the study presents a picture of the patriotism of the population and the reasons for the popular defensive war. A. Andrássy
