than 12 000 pieces. In 1947 the museum was given the name »count Széchenyi«. It was brought under government management in 1949. Between 1949 and 1951 it was named counti-museum of Somogy (Somogy megyei múzeum). In 1951 it was given the name »Rippl-Rónai« museum. Rippl-Rónai was a painter well-known all over Europe. Joseph Rippl-Rónai has a lot of pictures in the collection of the museum. After the war-damages had been established and the library had been separated, the komplex research and collective work could organize a permanent exhibition in 1951. The museum exhibited the results of archeological, ethnographical research work and demonstrated the objects of fine arts, of natural science and monument objects. The »Rippl-Rónai« museum was working by help of 4 scientific coworkers and 6 assistents till 1955. Its collection exceeded the number of 11 000 pieces without the library. Since 1961 the »Rippl-Rónai« museum was managed by the county council. In the same time the management of the museums of Somogy was instituted with the centre of »Rippl-Rónai« múzeum. Since 1965 the management has been working by the help of 3 scientific co-workers, 12 constant and 5 casual assistents. 6 smaller institutes beLong to it. In our 7 institutes the visitors are more than 45 000 in number every year. The 2 nd and 4 th fasicules of the museum »Somogy« relate in detail about the institutes of the management of the counti-museums. The total collection of the counti-museums of Somogy counted 18 397 pieces 31 st december, 1964. 75
