Its folkloristic furnishing was chosen by Lajos Knffy himself reminding him of his childhood home. This style made him an impression in Orci and Gálosfa in 1870's. In his Parisian time he lived among French period pieces. Coming home he felt a nostalgy for the folk art. He had red a dining room furniture with flower patterns instead of the upper middle class style. The pictures on the wall are matching with the furniture. The topic of the pictures is harvesting, wedding ceremonies with people in local costumes showing accurate observation and colouring. Kunffy's main art is based on genre pictures, depicted of the village life. On his self-portrait at old age he is presented as a resigned patriot preserving traditions. The guest room In summer he would invite his painter friends to work together. The main representative of modern painting, József Rippl-Rónai came as a guest between 1905 and 1908. He depicted famous pictures of Mrs Kunffy in French dress. (The Kunffy - child is a renowned picture made in the Kunffy estate in Vargaliget an d a Kunffy portrait has not been found yet.). It is a nice episode of Rippl-Rónai's visit: „Józsi worked in Somogytúr a lot, too. He made a whole set of my wife, who was willing to pose for him. Almost all of them were purchased by Marcell Nemes, the renowned collector. My wife was honoured with one of these pretty portraits. My wife really loved him for his cheerful mood and nice speech. He was given the nickname „Brigadier Ocskay" from her after the play by Ferenc Herceg in the Theatre of Comedy, about its main character. While posing there was a funny episode. My wife asked him around noon: „Tell me Ocskay, shall I go on posing or could I leave fir the kitchen to check if the lunch is ready?" we had a new cook and she was not convinced about her knowledge. It was a great dilemma for Józsi being absorbed in his work, but finally let her go, because he loved not only the beautiful but the tasty as well.
