Prospecting - SŐRÉS László: Geophysical measurements at the site of a Roman homestead at Balácapuszta

J V. Fig.2 Residual anomaly map calculated by filtering of de resistivity profiles: a: excavated walls from the 1st century A.D.; b: excavated walls from the 3rd century A.D.; c: walls suggested from interpretation of the resistivity profiles; d: strong indications of walls; e: light indications of walls; f: bushes, cairns, etc; g: area showing anisotropy (Resistivity measured along NE profiles are grater (G) or smaller (S) than that of SE profiles.) Dashed lines show the assumed orientations of buried walls. It is necessary to get acquainted with the geophysical model and its behaviour for a proper consideration of the information on the maps and for understanding the interpretation. The area is topographically flat terrain and, presumably, the geological structure is similarly undisturbed - it can be regarded as a homogeneous half-space so far as profiling at a depth of penetration of 1.5 to 3 m is concerned.
