PAPP В. & P. ERZBERGER: ADATOK A VILLÁNYI-HEGYSÉG MOHAFLÓRÁJÁHOZ 45 The bryophyte flora of the Villány Hills, South Hungary. Beáta PAPP & Peter ERZBERGER Altogether 121 bryophyte taxa (13 hepatics and 108 mosses) were found by the authors in the Villány Hills during field trips in 1999 and 2000. In the bryoflora species of temperate zones of Europe predominate (53%), but the high percentage (30%) of Mediterranean, submediterranean, suboceanic species can also be observed. The proportion of boreal, subboreal species is only 12%. Some continental, subcontinental species also occur (5%). Three species are included in the Red Data Book of European Bryophytes (ECCB 1995); Asterella saccata (vulnerable in Europe), Phascum floerkeanum (insufficiently known distribution, probably rare in Europe), Pterygoneurum subsessile (regionally threatened). 17 taxa are rare in Hungary. The most valuable habitats are the loess walls and open grasslands facing south on Tenkes and Szársomlyó hill. Most of the rare species occur in these places.
