Dunántúli Dolg. Term. Tud. Sorozat 10 13-35 Pécs, 2000 The lichen flora of the Villány Mts László LŐKÖS LŐKÖS, L.: The lichen flora of the Villány Mts., South Hungary. Abstract. More than 1,000 literature, herbarial and observed records of 181 lichen species are summarised from the Villány Mts. Two species new to Hungary (Psorinia cartilaginea, Verrucaria bryoctona), 43 species new to the Villány Mts (Acrocordia gemmata, Arthonia lapidicola, Aspicilia moenium, Bacidia fraxinea, B. rubella, Buellia disciformis, Caloplaca cerinella, C. obscurella, C. polycarpa, Candelariella reflexa, Catillaria nigroclavata, Chrysothrix candelaris, Collema multipartitum, Dimerella pineti, Evernia divaricata, Hypogymnia tubulosa, Lecania cyrtella, L. fuscella, L. turicensis, Lecanora campestris, L. conizaeoides, L. expallens, L. hagenii, L. saligna, L. subcarpinea, Moelleropsis nebulosa, Peltigera lepidophora, Pertusaria flavida, Phaeophyscia endophoenicea, Physcia dubia, Placynthium subradiatum, Protoblastenia rupestris, Pseudevernia furfuracea, Psorotichia schaereri, Punctelia subrudecta, Rinodina sophodes, Sarcopyrenia gibba, Scoliciosporum chlorococcum, Strangospora pinicola, Thelocarpon laureri, Verrucaria muralis, V. subfuscella, V. viridula). Five species (Agonimia tristicula, Buellia pulverea, Polycoccum marmoratum, Psorinia cartilaginea, and Verrucaria bryoctona) are known only from the Villány Mts in Hungary. Introduction The first lichens {Anaptychia ciliaris, Ramalina calicaris) found by V. Borbás in the Harsány Mts (= Mt Szársomlyó) in the 19 th century were mentioned by HAZSLINSZKY (1884). Unfortunately these specimens could not be localised in any Hungarian herbaria. The first main lichen collectors of the Villány Mts were Gy. Timkó (in 1915) and V. Gyelnik (in 1925), who collected about 100 specimens of 58 species (23 corticolous, 35 saxicolous and terricolous) at Mt Harsány, the highest part of the Villány Mts. Only a few of their data were published in various papers (GYELNIK 1928, 1931a, b, 1942, RÄSÄNEN 1940, SZATALA 1927, 1930, 1939, 1948, VERSEGHY 1966, 1973b, 1974, 1975). Some additional specimens were collected by Á. Boros in 1923 and 1926, A. Pénzes in 1926, J. Wagner in 1927 and J. Pam in 1946 also at Mt Szársomlyó. К. Verseghy visited Mt Szársomlyó in 1970. Although the title of her publication (VERSEGHY 1973a) was "The lichen vegetation of the Villány Mts", she neglected not only all the former collections, but the epiphytic lichens as well. She published only her own collection (ca 120 specimens of 55 species) from Mt Szársomlyó only. Some more lichens were collected at Mt Szársomlyó by G. Kosa in 1983, F. Horváth in 1988 and E. Farkas in 1983 and 1991. Peltigera lepidophora and Thelocarpon laureri, two species new for the Villány Mts were recognised from the latter collections. G. Thor visited Mt Szársomlyó as well in 1987. Fifty-four species were published (THOR 1988) from his collection: one species (Agonimia tristicula) was found to be new for Hungary, and 12 species new for the Villány Mts. In the "Lichen flora of Hungary" 77 species were reported by K. VERSEGHY in 1994 based on the BP collection. As there are no specimens for Bacidia sabuletorum, Cladonia major, C. parasitica, Collema auriculatum, Huilia crustulata, Lecidella
