DUNÁNTÚLI DOLGOZATOK (A) TERMÉSZETTUDOMÁNYI SOROZAT 10. (2000) Faunistical results of the investigation of the spider fauna (Araneae) of Szársomlyó Hill, Villány Hills, South-Hungary. Csaba SZINETÁR & Lilla LAJOS As a precedents of the spider faunistical researches of the Villány Hills, several researchers' activity has to be referred to. First, Gábor KOLOSVÁRY has to be mentioned. He, in 1935, performed collections at Nagyharsány and Csarnóta. He published his results, together with those from Mátra Mts. (KOLOSVÁRY 1935). Imre LOKSA examined the bushy wood habitat of Tenkes Hill in the Villány Hills, within the framework of the complex research programme of the Carpathian Basin's bushy wood habitats (LOKSA 1966). He indicated seventy spider species on the Tenkes. He stated several characteristic differences during the comparison of the samples collected at Tenkes and in the Mecsek Mts. SZINETÁR and his colleagues performed several collections at different locations in the country in xerotherm grasses between 1995-98. They examined empty snail shells for the assessment of the wintering spider species. Two samplings were made at Szársomlyó Hill. Through this method, the occurrence of 8 species could be demonstrated (SZINETÁR et al. 1984). In the present publication, the authors present the results of collections carried out in 1995 as well as in 1999 and 2000 upon request of Janus Pannonius Museum, Pécs. The spiders were collected using Barber's ground-traps (PT), by sweeping net (SN), by handheld suction sampler (D-vac) as well as hand collecting methods (HC). In the list of the species, the authors indicate the abbreviation of the employed method (as specified above) as well as the collection period. The exact dates are provided in the Area and Method chapter of the publication. Furthermore, the authors provide the collecting sites on the mount as follows: S: Southern versant - xerothermic association-complex (bushy wood, slope grassland, rocky grassland) R: The bushy woods of the ridge. N: The detritus-slope woods with white lime on the northern versant. The authors recorded 119 spider species from the Szársomlyó Hill. Among them, 4 species proved to be new for the Hungarian fauna: Atypus muralis Bertkau, 1890, Linyphia tenuipalpis Simon, 1884, Thanatus vulgaris Simon, 1870, Sitticus inexpectus Logunov & Kronenstedt, 1997. The taxonomical situation of two other species is still to be clarified (Savignia sp., Altella sp.). The authors are discussing separately the occurrence of some rare species characteristic of the habitat: Nemesia pannonica (Herman, 1879), Trichoncus auritus (L. Koch, 1869), Xysticus embriki Kolosváry, 1935, Ballus rufipes (Simon, 1868). LAJOS Lilla Pécsi Tudományegyetem Biológiai Intézet Zootaxonómiai és Szünzoologiai Tanszék H-7624 Pécs Ifjúság útja 6.
