HORVÁTH GY.: A KISEMLÓSFAUNA ELEVENPOGÓ CSAPDÁZÁSOS VIZSGÁLATA 509 Live trapping investigation of the small mammal fauna in the neighbourhood of the Matty lake, Co. Baranya (South Hungary) Gyózó HORVÁTH During the summer of 1997 live trapping using the CMR method was ccnducted in two six-day sessions in the proximity of the lake at Matty. Our trapping grid was composed of 16 line transects each 60 meters in length, and each made up of 20 traps placed 3 metres apart. The lines were arranged as radii of a circle, thus the traps formed a pattern of concentric circles, too (trapping web design). Twelve species were trapped during 3840 trap nights, and 325 small mammal specimens were marked individually. Five shrew and 7 rodent species were identified on the sampling area. Capture and recapture data were recorded in a Manly-Parr diary of captures. The most frequent species according to the results of the trapping were Apodemus agrárius, M. arvalis, С. suaveolens and S. araneus.
