PURGER Near the river Drava in Hungary in the last decades 217 bird species were recorded. In the investigated period (1995-1997) during 46 field trips 154 bird species were observed. From this, 115 (75%) bred in the territories of the National Park. The rest of recorded birds belongs to the occasional or regular visitors and passengers during migration. Near the river Drava 26 specially protected species (Ardeola ralloides, Egretta Rarzetta . Egretta alba, Ciconia nigra , Ciconia ciconia, Anser erythropus, Aythya nyroca , Milvus migrans , Milvus milvus, Haliaeetus albicilla , Circaetus gallicus, Aquila pomarina. Pandion haliaetus, Falco peregrinus, Bonasa bonasia, Crex crex , Himantopus himantopus, Burhinus oedicnemus, Numenius arquata, Sterna albifrons, Chlidonias leucopterus, Tyto alba, Athene no с tua , Asio flammeus, Merops apiaster, Coracias garrulus) are known to occur, out of which the underlined species were recorded during the period of investigation.
