UHERKOVICH Á., ÁBRAHÁM L.: A NAGYLEPKE KUTATÁSOK FAUNISZTIKAI EREDMÉNYEI A DRÁVA MENTÉN 159 The faunistic results of the study of butterflies and larger moths (Lepidoptera: Macrolepidoptera) along the river Dráva (South Hungary) Ákos UHERKOVICH & Levente ÁBRAHÁM From the first half of this century no informations were published about the faunistics of the butterflies and larger moths (Lepidoptera: „Macrolepidoptera") in the Hungarian Drávaregion. Either Fauna Regni Hungáriáé (ABAFI-AIGNER 1896) or ABAFI-AIGNER'S (1907) „classical" Lepidoptera book did not record any data from here. Only in the fifties it was published very few data by KOVÁCS (1956, 1957). Systematic investigations started only in the second half of seventies along the southwestern boundary of Hungary, mostly in the area of Bares Juniper Woodland. Four volumes of faunistic reports were published containing the results of the studies, about the emerged vegetation and fauna of this landscape protection area (UHERKOVICH 1978a, 1981a, 1983, 1985). Further lepidopterological informations have been presented from some other points, e. g. from the vicinity of Kisdobsza, Komlósd and Felsőszentmárton (UHERKOVICH 1975, 1978b, 1979, 1990). The lepidopterous fauna of the Dráva gallery forests was not examined because of the border zone, thus the fauna of this land-strip remained unkown. The systematic studies started only in the year 1992 in several unexplored areas of the Dráva inundation region. During the last three years (1992-1994) many intersting results were taken. Present paper summarizes all the important results not only during these three years but also the earlier ones, containing the data published in the papers already mentioned above. In lack of enough space only the abbreviations of the localities and the species name are given, and the source of the data is not mentioned. Altogether 756 species are listed. The next part contains the list of the protected lepidopterous species found in the region. Thirty-six of them occur along the Dráva river. Acantholeucania loreyi Dup. proved to be new for the Hungarian fauna, its single specimen was collected on November 7, 1993 at Vejti (see Fig. 1). The other very interseting species are Polypogon gryphalis, collected mostly in the seventies, but during the past decade no specimen was taken. The notodontid Leucodonta bicoloria is a rare elemennt of the Hungarian fauna. Some further species (e. g. Proserpinus proserpina, Phragmatiphila nexa, Pheosia gnoma, Gastropacha populifoUa, Mesogona oxalina) are generally rare in Hungary, but along the Dráva river they have flourishing populations. The protected butterflies of this region are not rarities, only Zerynthia polyxena is uncommon.
