100 NATURA SOMOGYIENSIS 5th subfamily: Dasylabrinae INVREA, 1964 Compound eyes oval, barely projecting from head contourFemale mesosoma pearshaped, widenin at anterior 2/5. Ocelli absent. Scutellar scale present. Metasomal segment 1 narrow. Pygidium present or absent. Male tegulae small, not reaching suture between scutellum and mesonotum. Ocelli small. Pterostigma small, occasionally barely visible by naked eye. Dasylabris RADOSZKOWSKI, 1885 Female with flagellomere 2 is about 1.5-2.Ox as long as pedicel, flagellomeres 1-3 nearly equal in length (Fig. 59). Metasomal segment 1 with two lateral small, obtuse process. Pattern on metasoma consisting of spots or bands of pale setae. Male head with no elevated longitudinal carina between tubercles behind antennal base. Flagellomere 1 about 1.5-2.Ox shorter than 2. Forewings dark, sometimes transparent, with 2 or 3 celulla cubitalis and 1 or 2 celulla discoidalis. Radial vein always welldeveloped. Anterior part of metasomal sternites 1 and 2 with medial longitudinal carina. Tergite 2 with felt lines. Body usually black but some body parts occasionally rusty red. The genus includes 14 species in Europe. Two of them occur in Hungary. The entirely black male specimens of Dasylabris deposited in the MTM were identified as Dasylabris lugubris by BAJÁRI (1954). However, according to PETERSEN (1988) Dasylabris lugubris (FABRICIUS, 1804) is a West European and North African species that does not occur in Hungary. We consider that the three specimens in the MTM (Dabas: Gyón; Kiskunhalas: Felsőszállás; Kiskunmajsa: Bodoglár) identified as Dasylabris miogramma SKORIKOV, 1935 are actually Dasylabris regalis. 1 (4) Apterous forms, females. 2 (3) Border of pygidium not widening backward (Fig. 128). Anterior part of metasomal tergite 2 with spot of pale pubescence, posterior margin with band of pale pubescence broadly interrupted at middle (1st subgenus: Dasylabris RADOSZKOWSKI, 1885). Mandibles tridentate, brownish red, black toward apex, two denticles before apex visible only under stronger magnification (Fig. 79). Mesosoma about 1.2x longer than its maximum width. Scutellar scale small, only slightly elevated, its colour same as that of mesosoma. Metasomal sternites 1 and 2 with medial longitudinal carina. Pygidium triangular, with irregular longitudinal wrinkles on entire surface. Head black, occasionally tinged with reddish brown, frons with dense pale appressed setae forming spot (sometimes absent). Antennae black, reddish brown toward base. Mesosoma rusty brown, ventral side black, upper part covered by rusty red or golden appressed setae; dorsal surface of mesosoma and frons also with sparse long black setae. Occasionally bands on metasoma vague. Posterior part of tergites 1 and 2 and entire sternite 3 with band of pale pubescence. Band on posterior part of tergite 2 broadly interrupted, anterior part with round spot of pale pubescence. Tergites 4 and 5 with spot of pale pubescence in middle, spot on tergite 5 somewhat wider than that on tergite 4. Metasoma, except for whitish patterns, densely covered by appressed black pubescence and sparsely
