Rózsás Márton: Középkori és kora újkori hulladékgödrök Barcs-Pusztabarcsról MÁRTON RÓZSÁS GARBAGE-HOLES OF MEDIEVAL AND THE EARLY MODERN TIMES FROM BARCS-PUSZTABARCS SUMMARY The author of the present article approaches the Southern Slav population's presence in the Medieval times, the times of the Turkish occupation from an archeological point of iew. It is only a brief account, it is not intended to be exhaustive, about the findings of the Southern Slavs, mainly ceramics, which is typical of the Souther-Transdanubia region. In this essay we can read about the findings of garbage-holes from medieval and early modern times in Pusztabarcs, which is situated in the outskirts of Bares in Somogy county. Bares was situated on this hillside until the 17. century, it only changed its place after the chasing out of Turkish. The objects came into light during the preparing works of sandpits that is why in many cases only parts of them could be observed and the findings could be gathered from them. One of the medieval garbage-holes is from the 13.-14. century, the other is from the 14.-15. century. The early modern holes contained ceramics and instruments from the 16-17. century. In the findings from the early modern times Hungarian and Southern Slav ceramics could be mixedly found. These ceramics were used by the military and the civil inhabitants as well, This kind of ceramics are called the „Southern Slav" ceramics. The spreading of this type of pottery in Hungary was only limited to the settlements and the strongholds of the occupying Turkish forces. The occurance and proportion of the pottery support the presence of handmade article of the Croatian (Southern-Slav) population in the 16-17 century in Bares. The use of Hungarian and Southern-Slav ceramics together refers to the direction of trading relations and practical aspects as well. 42
