Dr. Chikán Bálint: Néhány dokumentum a szentendrei művésztelep korai éveiből
RÉSUMÉ Dr. Bálint Chikán Some documents from the early years of the Szentendre Artists' Colony Several documents are published in the writing. In the first place those which reflect the financial state of the colony of the Szentendre. They reveal that the society was not moved by a common artistic purpose but rather by the hope to manage, sell pictures or start a painting school easier together. From the documents we are informed about the expenses of an exhibiton in the 1930s, how to get money by letting out a model, and that letting out rooms was an important source of income, yet friendship sometimes proved to be more significant than the financial interest: that is why they entertained Gyula Hincz or János Tornyai free of charge. Due to the document verifying the entertainment of Hincz, Ferenc Bindorffer has been discovered, who, according to further documents, belonged to the early art of Szentendre, and, as his figure occurs both in connection with ,,colonists" and ,,non-colonists" he, as a link, would deserve further researches. Earlier the part of the College of Fine Arts was limited to the fact that all the founder members had been the students of István Réti. But according to the memoirs of Miklós Bánovszky even Réti's personal contribution has been devaluated, while no mention at all has been made of Béla IványiGrünwald, who seems to have been their mentor besides merely participating in the presidium of the society. The published photo from 1935 tinges the role of Réti. Iványi-Grünwald's or Tornyai's letters give further information about the frescos of the Szentendre Church Hill, while the two texts from Masa Feszty show what kinds of connections of Budapest were tried to be strengthened by the colonists in 1935. Finally I would like to emphasize that it is high time the only one photo with all the founder members in it was republished, which would correct the faulty publication of Lenke Haulisch in 1977.
