László József Molnár's symbolic graphics meditate problems of the relations between the part and the whole by composing lifeless materials and the representations of the human hand into one situation which, by its detailed character, recalls photography. Though most of the elements suggest disharmony yet the revealing of the rules of the details speak for a meaningful existence based on real values. The sculptors who lived or live in Vác tend to represent their interpretations of the world and its values by figurai compositions. Mihály Pál started with figures of Egyptian character which were later enriched with lyrical tones. From the 1970s a demand for monumentality and consequently more stylized and compact forms and solemn topics followed often turning Biblical figures and heroes of folk tales into carriers of universal values. He has recently been concerned with issues of the relation between architectue and sculpture. Ferenc Qyurcsek lived in Vác for a short time but his Peasant Revolt is one of the most powerful plastic renderings. János Blaskó's chief motifs are the figure and the symbols of the sun and the moon. Ildikó Bakos is perhaps the most versatile and most individualistic of Vác sculptors. Instead of tryng to establish a rational and geometrical order she seeks to portray the essential moments of diverse phenomena and situations. Her works presuppose a more active audience adding the final touch by viewing her statues. Her portraits likewise try to focus on the essence of the character rather than on exterior similarity. Portrait and torso are connected on her reliefs titled "The Jewish Bride". Mow she is experimenting with icons in which the original identity of the representation and the represented is reflected as a contrast between the idea and its realization. A new, though not yet fully accepted phenomenon in Vác is the permanent show reresented by Gyula Hincz's complete oeuvre which can house chamber shows, so far, mostly by his followers, Pál Mizser Pál Qerzson, László Gyémánt, Éva Kárpáti, István Csik, István Hádler, József Burkus, György Rutkai and Ádám Misch. Pethaps the Beck Collection to be established in the near future will contribute to the acceptance of this new form.
