A tárlat hiteles képet ad egy rendkívül mobil művészeti helyzetről, mely gyors átrendeződésekkel, a korábbi periódus műtípusainak ellenpontjait megteremtve (de a született eredményeket nem tagadva), a stíluspluralizmus jegyében zajlik, forr, változik napjainkban. (A Szentendei Képtárban 1986-ban rendezett kiállítás katalóguselőszavának másodközlése) Ferenc Hann: "NEW MIXTURE" - INTRODUCTION TO THE CATALOGUE OF THE LAJOS VAJDA STUDIO, SZENTENDRE GALLERY, 1986 The Lajos Vajda Studio (LVS) was formed in 1972 from autodidacte of whom only János Aknay received a basic art training. After a few controversial open-air shows a Baroque cellar has become their studio which grew to be the most prominent base of Hungarian Avantgarde endeavours. Art criticism was, at first, rather fastidious but later it was compelled to accept the group which was constantly striving to realize its own concept. LVS started as a loose art group merely connected by the conscious acceptance of progressive tendencies and amateurism and this stylistic freedom contributed to the survival of the community despite the evolution of individual oeuvres. László fe Lugossy has become a mixed media artist contributing to spectacular events, actions, happenings, land art, environmental art, behaviour art, art rock with ef Zámbó and occasionally even less extrovert members like Peter Bereznai who excelled himself in graphic art, Holdas making ironic marble medals, Agócs and Matyófalvi experimenting with the simultaneous use of stone and textile, István Tóth painting insightful portraits of sometimes more realistic other times more expressive tones. At the turn of the 1980s artists with mature oeuvres — István Halász, Attila Joláthy and Mihály Gubis — joined the studio. By now both the structure and the role of the studio has changed. It has turned into a platform promoting the introduction of young Avantgarde artists. New Mixture enumerates both Expansionist pieces and works inspired by Trans-Avantgarde or New Sensibility. The exhibition protrays a rather mobile situation in art which goes through quick rearrangements producing counterpoints of the early period without rejecting its results in the spirit of stylistic pluralism.
