László Pirk and Krisztina Rényi represent art historical symbols in their collage-like graphics and paintings. In the 1980s two Transylvanians, Csaba György Borgó and Sándor Krizbai enriched the art scene by their Bioromanticism and Expressionistic gesture painting both being inspired by Mew Wave. Peter Bereznai likewise utilizes New Wave gestures and loud colours which construct a background to emblematic formations. The author finally concludes that the earlier main trends of Constructivism and Surrealism were replaced by a more varied range of styles represented in the individual achievements and maintains that the 1990s will probably be less marked by political concerns and give way to aesthetic aspects.
