LOSONCI, MIKLÓS: THE PICTORIAL OEUVRE OF TIBOR BOROMISZA Tibor Boromisza was an interesting personality and important organizer of Hungarian painting. His activity started before the First World War and lasted, with incessant momentum, until 1960. His first master was Károly Ferenczy; he invited him to Nagybánya, to the first Hungarian open-air school of painting. He was on a study-tour in Paris, but he was attracted also by Lake Balaton. In the first decade of the present century he was one of the founders of the Society of Balaton Painters. His style developed under the aegis of postimpressionism, his endeavours showed, however, some affinity also to the analysis of the painter József Egry. After the fall of the Hungarian Soviet Republic (1919) he settled down in Szentendre. He was the first who initiated the establishment of the Society of Szentendre Painters is 1925. In those years he examined the characteristic features of Szentendre and her surroundings in a series of water-colours, and presented fresh impressions in a dynamic manner. Boromisza spent three years in the „puszta" of Hortobágy where in the company of the painters Miklós Káplár and Zoltán Maghy he painted brilliant portraits of shepherds, perpetuated the beautiful phenomena of the „puszta". Later on he moved to Transdanubia where his fancy was hit by the gentle slopes and hills of this region; many of his works has been attached to the Buda hills, too. Good taste and dynamics, elegance and a steady manner of handling the brush are the characteristics of his activity. He was an untiring and devoted artist; he did not let pass any visual experience. Therefore he regularly got up at dawn in order to catch the magnificent sight of the phenomena of light. His life-work is complete, its periods were built up in the harmony of a balanced development; he preserved all at the same time that nature offered to him, and that was what he condensed into the individuality of his paintings. LOSONCI, MIKLÓS: LEBENSWERK DES KUNSTMALERS TIBOR BOROMISZA Tibor Boromisza war eine interessante Gestalt und bedeutender Organisator der ungarischen Malerei. Seine Tätigkeit begann vor dem ersten Weltkrieg und dauerte in ununterbrochenem Schwung bis 1960. Sein erster Meister war Károly Ferenczy, er war es, der Boromisza nach Nagybánya gerufen hat. Eine Studienreise führte ihn auch nach Paris. Der See Balaton zog ihn auch sehr an. Boromisza wurde einer der Gründer der „Gesellschaft der Maler vom Balaton" im ersten Jahrzehnt des Jahrhunderts. Sein Stil bildete sich im Zeichen des Postimpressionismus, doch zeigen seine Bestrebungen lange Zeit gemeinsame Züge mit der Lichtanalyse von Egry. Nach dem Fall der Räterepublik liess er sich in Szentendre nieder. 1925 ergriff er als erster die Initiative der Gründung der Gesellschaft der Maler von Szentendre. In diesen Jahren studierte er den Charakter der Stadt Szentendre und ihrer Umgebung in einer ganzen Reihe von Aquarellen. Seine frischen Impressionen telite er in grosszügiger pittoresken Aufführung mit. Drei Jahre verbrachte er in der Puszta Hortobágy, wo er in Gesellschaft von Miklós Káplár und Zoltán Maghy prächtige Hirtenportraits malte und verewigte die mit Malen ergreifbaren Schönheiten der Puszta.
