Handled cup of the Dacian type Site of the bridge pillar of the Danube bank Quern stone Wheel-turned grey bowl Sunken house with an oven A section of another late Celtic settlement was discovered by the Danube at Budakalász, on the planned site of the bridge pillars of the MO Ring Road. The twenty excavated features included sunken houses, workshops with ovens and beehive shaped storage pits. The pottery from the site ranged from carefully smoothed grey wares (bowls with swollen rim and bowls with an S profile) to large ovoid vessels and pots, often decorated with smoothed-in wavy lines, as well as handthrown conical cups and large pots with applied decoration. Settlements of this type can be dated to the La Тёпе D period. The absence of Roman pottery indicates that they perished at the beginning of the Roman occupation, when the Roman army arrived. • • Katalin Ottományi
