13.2 Eigendarstellung Andre van Lier Eigendarstellung: André van Lier ist ein Repräsentant der konkreten Kunst. Sein Werk als Künstler ist unlöslich mit seiner Arbeit als Designer und Architekt verbunden. Die konkrete Kunst kann als die Kunst des Weglassens betrachtet werden: André van Lier evoziert in seinen Kunstwerken mit minimalen Eingriffen eine maximale Spannung. Obwohl sein Werk den nahezu mathematischen Ausgangspunkten der konkreten Kunst perfekt entspricht, zeichnet das Endresultat sich durch Formfreiheit aus. Seit 1995 bedient er sich dabei, nachdem er die Möglichkeiten des Zirkels und des Vierecks interpretiert hatte, häufig auch der Ellipsenform. Die Linien des Umrisses und der Achsen werden gemäß den strengen konstruktiven Prinzipien rhythmisch und sich wiederholend verwendet, wohingegen die runden Formen und monochromen Farben Emotionen und Lebendigkeit hinzufügen. Diese Kunstwerke überschreiten ihren Rahmen und gehen über die ebene Fläche hinaus. Aufgrund der dreidimensionalen, gefalteten Formen - die auch als hexametrisches Faltliniensystem bezeichnet werden - stellen Licht und Schatten einen integralen Bestandteil des Kunstwerkes dar. Szakmai bemutatás: André van Lier a konkrét művészeti mozgalom reprezentánsa. Művészként, tervezőként és építészként dolgozik, s e három kölcsönösen hat a munkájában. A konkrét művészet bizonyos szempontból a „redukció művészete”, s André van Lier minden művében látszik a törekvés arra, hogy minimális beavatkozással a legnagyobb feszültséget váltsa ki. Ugyan munkája összhangban van a konkrét művészet szigorú matematikai megközelítésével, ám a megszülető alakzatok a forma szabadságának aspektusait is mutatják. Miután létrehozta a kör és a négyzet interpretációit, 1995-ben belefogott, hogy felfedezze az ellipszis alakjában rejlő lehetőségeket. Alkotásaiban e mértani forma körvonalai és tengelyei - a konstruktív művészet szigorú szabályai és elvei szerint - ritmikusan ismétlődnek, miközben a kerek formák és monokróm színek érzelmet és élénkséget sugároznak. Ezek a műalkotások túllépnek a megszokott felületen és saját kereteiken is. A háromdimenziós formák - az ún. hexametrikus hajtogatás szerint - lehetővé teszik, hogy fény és árnyék a műalkotás integráns részévé váljanak, s néha úgy tűnik, hogy a tárgy egy nem létező része is jelen van. A műalkotások kortenacélból, fémlemezekből, dibondból, kartonból, közepes sűrűségű farostlemezből és furnérból készülnek. Professional evaluation: André van Lier is a representative of the concrete art movement. He works as an artist, designer and architect and these three disciplines all interact in his work. Concrete art is in a way ‘the Art of Reduction’ and in all his works of art it can be seen how André van Lier strives to achieve maximal tension by a minimal intervention. While his work is in harmony with the near mathematical approach of concrete art, the resulting figures all show aspects of freedom of form. After creating interpretations of the circle and the square, he started to explore the possibilities of the shape of the ellipse in 1995. The outline and axes of this figure are adapted repetitively and rhythmically according to the strict principles of constructive art, while the round shapes and monochrome colours bring emotion and liveliness. These works of art transgress the flat surface and their own framework. The three-dimensional shapes - folded in the so called hexametric folding line system - cause light and shadow to become an integral part of the artwork and sometimes it even seems as if a non-existing part of the object is somehow present inside the wall. 158
