Constructive + Inter + Concrete - 16 International Positions ArtMill, Szentendre, 21 November, 2014 - 26 January, 2015 The late 19th century building of the saw-mill in Szentendre is one among the most interesting and unique exhibition halls in Hungary. Based on the concept of painter Pál Deim it was founded with the cooperation of the Szentendre Architects’ Association and the Foundation for the Art of Szentendre and opened in the summer of 1999. The purpose of the founders was to display the 20th century art of Szentendre on permanent and temporary exhibitions. The renovation financed by an ELI project resulted a new wing, and the ArtMill got under the management of the Pest County Museums Directorate, reopening in the spring of 2012. Now it is managed by its successor, Ferenczy Museum. As the third largest exhibition hall in Hungary the ArtMill aims to be an outstanding centre of Modern and Contemporary art in Central Europe. In bringing together artists and their audience, ArtMill functions as a living and active meeting place for the public of Szentendre and Budapest. Its special character, its past and present is the basis for its being an outstanding centre of contemporary art in Hungary and Central Europe. Since the reopening of March 2012 several displays of contemporary art were organized, but this time an extraordinary show is opened. The sixteen artists coming from different countries, including Hungary are the best in the subject of the exhibition. The initiator and organizer of the project, Heinz Kasper, is a member of the MADI group, like others from among the artists displaying their works. The title of the exhibition tells us that constructivegeometric tendencies are characterizing in the first place the works shown here, and there is a close connection represented in works and events among the artists displaying. This exhibition is a reflection not only of common purposes, but ist organization and realization is the result of joint work. It is up to the place, to its traditions, and we hope, that it would serve as a basis for new traditions, illustrating the aspirations of 21st century international contemporary art.
