10.2 Eigendarstellung Roland de Jong Orlando Eigendarstellung: In der Konstruktion seiner geometrisch-abstrakten Skulpturen wendet der niederländische Künstler Roland de Jong Orlando oft eine methodische Arbeitsweise an. Er verbindet einzelne Module in Serien mit Hilfe eines vorgegebenen Systems (wie z.B. der Fibonacci-Zahlenfolge) oder mit einem zunehmenden Schnittwinkel. Ein solcher Ansatz macht das ständige rhythmische Wachstum innerhalb des Ganzen deutlich sichtbar. Auf der anderen Seite spielt der Künstler zunehmend mit seinen eigenen Regeln. In dieser Arbeitsweise schafft er persönlichen Raum innerhalb des kreativen Prozesses, sodass Kombinationen der Module nicht nur mit einem systematischen Ansatz sondern auch mit Intuition und / oder Ästhetik gemacht werden. Er lässt auch Module „aus der Verantwortung“: eine solche Abweichung stellt sicher, dass in der Harmonie der Skulptur eine Dissonanz eingearbeitet wird, ein gewisses Maß an Chaos, unter Beibehaltung der Ordnung innerhalb des Ganzen. In diesen Arbeiten bricht der Künstler mit der reinen Symmetrie, so dass die innere Progression das Ergebnis einer Balance zwischen einem systematischen und spielerischen Ansatz wird. Szakmai bemutatás: Modul alapú szoborkonstrukciók: A holland művész, Roland de Jong Orlando sajátos szabálykövető alkotói módszert alkalmaz geometrikus-absztrakt szobrai konstruálásakor: bizonyos szétvágott modulokat sorozattá fűz össze valamely rendszer (pl. a Fibonacci-számsor) alkalmazásával, időnként pedig úgy is, hogy változtatva a vágási szögeket játékosan növeli az összeillesztési kombinációk számát. E módszer láthatóvá teszi az állandó és ütemes növekedést a konstrukció egészén belül. Másfelől azonban a művész egyre inkább játszik a saját szabályaival is. Az alkotómunka során egyéni teret hoz létre, mivel a modulok összeillesztésénél nem csak átgondolt, szabályszerű megközelítést alkalmaz, hanem saját intuícióit és esztétikai megfontolásait is szem előtt tartja. Azt is engedi, hogy egyes modulok “megszökjenek”: ez a szabálytól való eltérés azt biztosítja, hogy a szobor harmonikus rendjébe beépül valamiféle disszonancia, egy bizonyos fokú káosz, míg azért a rend az egészen belül mégis fennmarad. E műalkotásokban a művész szakít a tiszta szimmetriával. Ily módon eléri, hogy a belső progresszió a szabályszerű és a játékos megközelítés közti egyensúly eredményévé válik. Professional evaluation: “Module-Based Sculptural Constructions”: In the construction of his geometric-abstract sculptures the Dutch artist Roland de Jong Orlando often applies a methodical way of working: he combines single modules into series, with the aid of a predetermined system (e.g. the Fibonacci number sequence), whether or not in combination with an increasing cutting angle. Such an approach makes the constant, rhythmic growth clearly visible within the whole. On the other hand the artist is increasingly playing with his own rules. In this way of working he creates individual space within the creative process, making combinations of modules not only with a systematic approach but also with intuition and/or on esthetic grounds. He also lets modules „off the hook“: such a deviation ensures that within the harmony of the sculpture a dissonance is incorporated, a certain degree of chaos, while maintaining the order within the whole. In these works, the artist breaks with the pure symmetry, making the inner progression becoming the result of a balance between a systematic and playful approach. 124
