Kopin Katalin (szerk.): Test objektív. A test reprezentációja a kortárs művészetben - Ferenczy Múzeum kiadványai, C. sorozat: Katalógusok 5. (Szentendre, 2013)

Although Katalin Verebics and Márta Czene’s series of pictures represent two different genres, they are based on the same ideological content. In the paintings and photos representing body fragments, body maps of female figures are depicted along delicate, sensitive contours and details, drawing attention to concealed and secret details which are carefully hidden from the public. The body image fragments referring to the part/whole relationship convey the message in such an impulsive way that the whole body idea becomes visible, without evoking a feeling of lack in the spectator. The details of the female nude back appearing from a white background seem to emerge from a soft and relaxed environment in Katalin Verebics’s picture. Besides reflecting reality, the accurately observed, detailed body images are impregnated by a sort of lyricism. The naked female figure excludes the external world and retires into her private sphere by closing her eyes. Márta Czene created the corpus of a female figure from 22 pieces, which show life-size details of the model’s body. She took a photo of the body parts from different viewpoints, therefore they cannot be organised into a single body image, not even in a regular sequence. However, the body surface can be studied in a more detailed way than in full body photos. The objective details focusing on physical characteristics do not reflect the model’s mentality, only grasp and expose her bodily features: the network of blood vessels visible through the skin, the unevenness of pores and the arches of body curves.
