is life”. Artists having similar attitudes keep joining the group, like Viktor Lois, taking part in the Biennial of Venice in the past years, or Imre Bukta. The group has been in good terms with the Workshop of Marosvásárhely (MAMŰ, Transylvania) founded in 1978, which represents similar endeavors. Some of the latter like Károly Elekes, Csaba Borgó György, and Sándor Krizbai have repatriated to Hungary and have had exhibitions together with the members of Vajda Lajos Studio. A few artists ofVLS (Aknay, Péter Bereznai, Ottó Vincze) were also members of the Old Colony of Artists - for a shorter or longer term. Groups of younger generations , like OMKAMRA founded in the second half of the 1990's, or Forgács Society in the mid 2000's follow from many points the open, unprejudiced attitude and absurd voice of Vajda Lajos Studio, as for them being an artist is not a profession but a way of living. The works are not summaries of the multiple turn-of-the-century changes but are rather records of feelings, questions concerning present and future. As one can see from this short summery, the art of Szentendre cannot be described with the terms of an art school in the traditional sense of the word, it can much rather be determined as stylistically diverse art based on the intellectual force of artist generations living in the town. 122
