Salgótarján, which was completed with newer modern branches of industry (VEGYÉPSZER, BRG Salgótarjáni Gyáregysége). The result of the latest great industrialization before the political democratic transformation was the Salgótarjáni Üveggyapot Rt. The modern cityscape, the buildings following the Finnish examples and the public statues, like the whole cultural and infrastructural development, were established on the basis of the resolutions of the County Committee of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party. This fact caused an unique cultural development in Salgótarján in which the fine art scene had a greater and greater role. Between the 1960s and the 1980s were established the exhibitions which are known country-wide (Tavaszi Tárlat, Rajzbiennáté) were established, which play a significant role in the Hungarian fine arts, too. Many excellent artist have worked in Salgótarján since the 1950s. This tendency also can be observed in the present as we can see the harmonic coexistence of living environment and fine arts and the continuous meeting of weekdays and culture.
