He was born on 31 st January, 1925. at Pásztó. He graduated from the Vocational Secondary School of Trade and Public Catering in 1944 at Salgótarján. He worked on a lumberman at the Transylvanian highland in 1944-45. He returned to Pásztó in the summer of 1945. He was a track-repairer in 1945 between Hatvan and Salgótarján. He worked as an assistant cutter in the coal mine at Nagybátony in 1946-47. He was admitted to the Dezső Szabó Folk College in 1947 and shortly after it he was accepted to the College of Arts and Crafts. He studied at the graphic department of the Hungarian College of Fine Arts between 1948 and 1952; His masters were: Sándor Ék, Károly Koffán, György Konecsni. He married Klára Tóth in 1953. His children were: Kálmán and Klára. He lived and worked at Budapest. He was the member of the Studio of the Young Artists, of the Association of the Hungarian Artists and Artist-Craftmen, and of the Artistic Base of the Hungarian People's Republic. He was elected to the vice-president of the Association of the Hungarian Artists and Artist-Craftmen. He was the teacher of the Vocational Secondary School of Fine Arts and Arts and Crafts from 1975. He was working at many colony of artists: Zsennye, Balmazújváros, Miskolc, Kecskemét, Hajdúböszörmény. Later he was the leader of the International Artistic Camp in Hajdúböszörmény. He died on 2nd April, 1980. at Budapest. His grave is in the Holly Spirit cemetery at Pásztó. Er ist im Jahre 1925 in Pásztó geboren. In Salgótarján in einem Handelsmittelschule machte er im Jahre 1944 das Abitur. Von 1944 bis 45 arbeitete er in den Transsilvanischen Alpen an einem Holzeinschlag. Im Sommer des Jahres 1945 kehrte er nach Pásztó zurück. Von 1945 bis 46 arbeitete er als Bahnarbeiter in Pásztó, von 1946 bis 47 als Bergarbeiter in Nagybátony. 1947 wurde er am Szabó Dezső Volkskollegium aufgenommen, kurz darauf an der Hochschule für angewandte Kunst. 1952 bekam er in der Ungarischen Kunsthochschule sein Diplom. Seine Meister waren Gyula Hincz, Sándor Ék, Károly Koffán und György Konecsni. Im Jahre 1953 heiratete er Klára Tóth. Ihren Kinder sind Kálmán und Klára. Er lebte und arbeitete in Budapest. Er arbeitete in zahlreichen Künstlerkolonien, in Zsennye, in Balmazújváros, in Miskolc sowie in Kecskemét. Er wurde der Kunstleiter des Internationalen Kunstlagers in Hajdúböszörmény. Er war ein Mitglied des Studios von Jungen Künstlern, vom Verband des Ungarischen Künstlers und Kunstgewerblers (MKISZ). Er wurde sogar zum Vizepräsidenten des MKISZ gewählt. In den Jahren 1964 und 1967 bekam er den Munkácsy-Preis und seit 1974 ist er ein Verdienter Künstler. Er starb am 2. April 1980 im Alter von 55 Jahren in Budapest. Er ruht in seinem Grab, welches sich nach seinem persönlichen Wunsch im Pásztóer Friedhof befindet. 15
