Nagy Imre: A cserháti falvak laterális kapcsolatrendszere
IMRE NAGY LATERAL INTERDEPENDENCE AMONGST THE CSERHÁT’S VILLAGES Amongst the Cserhát’s hills an astonishing view will welcome the spectators. But those amazing hills also separates the population of the villages from the outside world. In this region we could not find any kind of settlements, but villages in the first third of the 20th century. Without a considerable town, or city, those villages had to maintain their inhabitants: they had to provide manufactured goods, food, healthcare, maintain the public order, the commerce etc. In this endeavour, the villages had to complement and reinforce each other. In my study, I tried to examine the bilateral (?) network of the villages of the Cserhát. As a result, I found out, that there were four different „subregions” in the Cserhát. To prove that, I examined five different „layers” of the everyday life. First of all, the potential of the environment, after that the demography of the region, then the existing village network, then the industrial possibilities, and finally, the characteristic signs of the local marketplaces. During my resarch, I had to step over the borders of the Cserhát, so I can fit in the region of the Cserhát to it’s surroundings. As a pirmary source, I used a countrywide draft, made in 1925. 149
