THROUGH ASCENSION - PROPERTY ACQUISITION, MARRIAGE STRATEGY AND REFORMATION IN THE EARLY HISTORY OF THE RÁDAY FAMILY (13TH-17TH CENTURY)

A small number of specialized literature have dealt with the beginnings of the story of Ráday family so far.

At the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries family history writings were still searching for mythical ancestors and they found Oliver and Ratold, - who were Italian knights and they came to Hungarian Kingdom during the reign of a Hungarian king Könyves Kálmán.

In the middle of the 13th century, the family from the village of Ráda in Pest county rose from the ranks of the castle-warrior above the middle nobility. During the 14th and 15th centuries, as a result of their marital strategy, they were increasingly seeking to build good relationships in Pest county, until the Ottoman invasion in the middle of the 16th century.

The second half of the 16th century is also remarkable in the history of Ráday family, due to the change of the place of residence, and the transition to the Reformed faith has largely determined the political and cultural lives of the family.

In my study, I have been following the story of the Ráday family from the middle of the 13th century, revealing their relationships, and their property acquisition activities.
