TOPOGRAPHY OF THE UPPER PALAEOLITHIC AND EPIPALAEOLITHIC SITES IN THE CSERHÁT MOUNTAINS AND IN THE IPOLY VALLEY

This short paper study is the second part of the topographic studies which present the palaeolithic settlement patterns in the above mentioned regions. This study was also inspired by the papers of V. T. Dobosi and Katalin Simán. According to the last sixty years of field surveys, the Upper Palaeolithic occupation in the territory in question was very intensive. Numerous Palaeolithic sites were localized from the Aurignacian to the Epipalaeolithic occupation.

In this paper the open-air sites of these Upper Palaeolithic cultures - Aurignacian, Pavloviam Epigravettian - will be shortly reviewed. We discuss not just about the sites topographical situations but the used tool types and raw material procurement also.
