Museum Development Projects in Nógrád County (2009—2013)

The Nógrád County Museum Organisation consisted of 4 museums namely the Nógrád Historical Museum as county museum in Salgótarján, the Ferenc Kubinyi Museum in Szécsény, the Palóc Museum in Balassagyarmat and the Museum of Pásztó and several exhibition halls. As a result of the national structural reorganization of museums at the end of 2012 in Nógrád County the museums and exhibition halls were handed over to the local governments with the exception of the Palóc Museum which became affiliated to the Hungarian National Museum. The museum in Salgótarján was named after Béla Dornyay and has been a town museum with county scope of activities since 1 January 2013. As a result of the large-scale participation in project activities between 2009 and 2013 significant development projects were started and realized as described by the author in the paper.
