A Babel Story - Language, Culture, Heterogeneity in Mikszáth’s Works

There is nothing new about the presence of linguistic registers in Mikszáth’s lifework, more exactly about the speciality that the texts are created sometimes from heterogenous elements, and the linguistic usage is a way for sketching the cultural context, and at the same time semantic organising method. The correlation of language, understanding and the Babel-effect is pointed out by Péter Hajdú in a study. In the case of the short story „Prakovszky, the Deaf Blacksmith” the unfolding of a Babel (or rather a before-Babel) story can also be seen.
