A Well Celebrated Anniversary - The Nógrád Historical Museum and the Local Society by Éva Szirácsik

At the May Festival of Museums in 2010 the Nógrád Historical Museum of Salgótarján got the evaluating committee’s recognition in ’The Museum of the Year 2009’ Competition for renewing its relationships with the actors of local society. So the year 2009 was not just a jubilee year in the 50 years’ history of the Nógrád Historical Museum: the museum proved the social need for its existence. The double need for keeping up traditions and renewal led to our exhibition and programme planning and our desire that the museum could serve the public needs in a narrower and a broader sense.
