Fossil Fish Remains from the Úrkút Formation by Andrea Pászti

A fossil fish was found by Mr. József Cseh-Német in the sediment of the Úrkút Formation in 1963. The original description and a photograph were published in 1966. Later this find was mentioned by Márta Polgár and her co-authors. This fossil fish can be classified as a member of the order Pycnodontidae.

One specimen is found in the collection of the Hungarian Geological Institute. Two other finds were made available for study by Márta Polgár. The investigation of the fish remains and other fossils of the ore bearing carbonate Jurassic series of Úrkút (Western Hungary) is important because they can provide new information on the circumstances of the ore formation.
