Upper Paleolithic Sites along River Ipoly by Krisztián Zandler

With our present study we wish to continue our series of publications started in 2008 with the aim to provide description of Paleolithic sites and findings from the area of Nógrád County. In this paper we wish to introduce four sites providing artefacts.

Topographically the sites can be found on dissected terraces of river valley, with a good view onto Ipoly river valley. They are located in a few hundred metres’ distance from each other just like the Pilismarót Epigravettian sites.

The Early Upper Paleolithic Szeletian industries, however, preferred more hidden places, crests lying further away from bigger valleys.
