KÖZLEMÉNYEK - MÚZEUMPEDAGÓGIA - Tóth Zsuzsa: „Mit játszódjunk...?" Múzeumpedagógiai tapasztalatok a Palóc Múzeumban

'What shall we play...?' Museumpedagogical Experience in the Palóc Museum By Zsuzsanna Tóth The historical roots of the more than a 100-year-old Palóc Museum go back to the 1800s. At present the museum houses a permanent exhibition based on our region's folk traditions, and also historical, fine art and etnographical temporary exhibitions. For years now in the national and folk history lessons the students of local primary schools have been happy to take part in guided exhibitions to get acquainted with the traditions of the palóc culture. Recently we have also been offering museum pedagogical lessons to schools. The base for these activities is always the exhibition, with the primary goal to introduce it. And it is also important that the students visiting us would come with pleasure, take part happily in the activities, enlarge their knowledge, and then go home with new experience. They should build new information on previously gained knowledge and develop a need to visit other museums as well. It is essential for them to learn how to find and interpret the information necessary in an exhibition. The lessons in the museum are not very formal, the children do not have to retell what they have learned, so they take no risk when giving their own ideas, opinions. Doing manual work increases their creativity, and listening to others develops their tolerance towards others. The worksheets are connected to our current exhibitions, the displayed objects can be observed at any time, and information can be checked. Learning is connected with play, or we can say, we learn by play. For the development of physical and psychic abilities it is of great importance for the child to find the right ways through play. The almost totally forgotten folk games train the body and strengthen community life. They test the child's persistence, patience, develop the skills. The teachers are happy to bring the children to the museum lessons, their work in national and folk history is made easier by the exhibits of the museum. Fordítás: Tátrai Emese
