rial of Litke 1. (L: 1,11 -1,26, W: 0,9 -0,99). More precise determination of the only find would be highly speculative. The large sized Megacricetodon species are rare in the Miocene of the Carpathian Basin. Remarks to the fossil leporids and rodents of Mátraszőlős 2. Eurolagus fontannesi (DEPÉRET, 1887) In Hungary this rooted leporid was primary described by ÉHIK (1926) as Titanomy from the classic locality of Felsőtárkány. The species is known from Rudabánya too. During the last decade we found Eurolagus finds from the new localities of the Felsőtárkány Basin and Subpiaträ (VENCZEL et al, 2005). We can presume forested environment for Eurolagus. Megacricetodon minor (LARTET, 1851) The small sized hamster species was a permanent element of the Middle Miocene rodent faunas in Central Europe. Substantial morphological differences among the different populations were not found. Democricetodon cf. freisingensis FAHLBUSCH, 1964 The morphology completely refers to the type material of the species however the dimensions are rather large. In the Carpathian Basin D. freisingensis is reported from the MN 7/8 fauna of Subpiatra 2/2 (VENCZEL et al 2005). In the late Astaracian/ earliest Vallesian transitional faunas of the Felsőtárkány Basin D. freisingensis is missing. The reappearence of the species was described from Rudabánya (KRETZOI & FEJFAR, 2005). Eumyarion latior (SCHAUB & ZAPFE, 1953) The dimensions of the Eumyarion molars from Mátraszőlős are the largest among the Eumyarion populations of the Carpathian Basin. In Central Europe a considerable size increase seems to have taken place there during the Middle Miocene time, but no uniform trend in this size increase. E.g. the Eumyarion populations of the Felsőtárkány Basin and Rudabánya are younger and smaller than the material of Mátraszőlős. Fordítás: Dr. Hír János
