is more appropriate to examine all manors belonging to one estate when evaluating quality of management of the whole estate.

The features characterizing the Festecsics estate farming at the end of the 18th century are included in this essay with a brief sketch of the work of György Festetics, the estate owner and János Nagyváthy, the landsteward. Major characteristics of the estates are also presented along with keypoints in estate modernization and their implementations.

The results of my essay point to the fact that the execution of production, sales instructions, innovations received from above, from the centre („Oeconomica Directio”) were not implemented in the same way in all manors, however, considering the whole of the estate in question development corresponding to the modernization preferences are proved by archive sources.---------------------------------------------------------------------------G©ö)
